The design and configuration of stairs and railings, both interior and exterior, are governed by building codes and are required to be a minimum or maximum width, depth, and height. All stairways in the plans in our portfolio are 3'6" wide, which exceeds minimum width requirements, allowing for better traffic.
The redesign or upgrade of stairs and railings offers an opportunity to change the appearance and visibility within a living space. Our basic design is unfinished pine or fir treads with carpet overlay. Unless otherwise illustrated, adjoining walls are full height. Hand rails are painted or stained fir. Balcony or overlook railings are painted wood pickets with painted or stained hand rail.
When designing a custom home the sky, and the budget, is the limit. We will incorporate your ideas into your plan and make recommendations on how to best utilize the budget and material and style combinations.
